DFO field trips take participants into diverse habitats every week of the year. The mix of participants on a typical outing offers opportunities for beginners to learn from intermediates and intermediates from experts. As your ability and experience grow, you may even step up to become a DFO field trip leader yourself.
Eight months of the year, DFO offers evening programs to share birding experiences and hear prominent birders and experts discuss the lives of birds, birding destinations both exotic and familiar, recent discoveries about avian life, and current issues in bird and habitat conservation. Some programs occur using Zoom and others are in person events that are simultaneously livestreamed.
DFO supports science and learning about birds via our Research, Education & Conservation Grant Fund and the Hawk Watch fund. Our Conservation Committee works to communicate about what each of us can do to protect birds and their habitats. Our monthly newsletter, The Lark Bunting, this website and our Facebook and Instagram pages help keep members informed about DFO events and provide interesting information about Colorado birds.

All memberships expire on December 31. Members who join after October 1 will have their membership extended through the following year.
