Riparian/foothill scrub habitat meets ponderosa pine. The park should be abuzz with nesting, feeding, and fledging activity of dippers, flycatchers, vireos, grosbeaks, goldfinches, hummingbirds and more. Trails are narrow in spots, with about 200 feet of elevation gain and loss on the loop away from and above Bear Creek. Expect to walk up to 3 miles, and we may share the trail with others on foot, bicycle and horseback. Composting toilets near the parking lot. Dress for the weather (early a.m. chill but warm later) and bring water, snacks, sunscreen, binocs and hat. Chilly at 7 a.m. but hot later. Register online or contact the leader.
