This online registration system allows you to review and electronically sign the Agreement if you do not have one on file. If you would prefer to manually sign a printable version of the Agreement, you may access it here, and present it to the leader before trip start. If you choose this option, please contact your leader to assure you are signed up for the trip.
Please note: Each person, including each family member choosing to sign the Agreement electronically must login and have a separate account so that the agreement is tied to the individual. If you are having difficulty with multiple logins, please contact us for assistance. *Minors: If participant is a minor, the minor’s parent or legal guardian must print out, review and sign a paper copy of the Agreement and present it to the leader before the trip start. We will do a "Big Day" ALL WITHIN in the Deer Creek watershed in Jefferson County! This will be part of the CFO Colorado Birding Challenge fundraiser, and we will be a non-competitive team to contribute to the fundraising efforts to conserve Pinyon Jays and their habitat. Participants will be encouraged to gather pledges or donations.
We will begin shortly before sunrise and go to 4 pm in the late afternoon. *An optional early start will try for poorwill and a few owls* (details to be announced). The birding will be a serious Big Day effort but limited to the Deer Creek watershed. We will range from near 9,000 feet to below 6,000 at the Deer Creek inlet of Chatfield Reservoir (where anything we can see from the creek mouth area there will count!). Habitats will include lake, marsh, riparian (cottonwood, willow, aspen), foothill scrub, oak scrub, Ponderosa pine forest, Douglas-fir and lodgepole pine forest, grassland, pasture, rocky escarpments and more. There are several parks in the watershed, and many roads other spots to keep us busy. A list of possible species will be generated, and some scouting trips are possible. Expect to encounter most of the birds that nest in the foothills area below 9,000 feet. We will drive to many places, carpooling in two cars. and we will walk make short hikes at some spots, with some decent slopes on single track trails. Total walking will be less than 3 miles for the day. Plan for some muddy spots. Bring the food and drink needed for the day. Register online or contact the leader.
