As part of your registration, in order to participate in a Denver Field Ornithologists, Inc. (“DFO”) trip or other activities designated by the Board of Directors, each adult participant and the parent of a minor participant (those under 18 yrs. of age) are required to review and sign (either electronically or manually) a DFO Acknowledgment and Assumption of Risks & Release and Indemnity Agreement (sometimes “Agreement”) Completing this document involves your acceptance of binding contract terms. This online registration system allows you to review and electronically sign the Agreement if you do not have one on file. If you would prefer to manually sign a printable version of the Agreement, you may access it here, and present it to the leader before trip start. If you choose this option, please contact your leader to assure you are signed up for the trip.
Please note: Each person, including each family member choosing to sign the Agreement electronically must login and have a separate account so that the agreement is tied to the individual. If you are having difficulty with multiple logins, please contact us for assistance. *Minors: If participant is a minor, the minor’s parent or legal guardian must print out, review and sign a paper copy of the Agreement and present it to the leader before the trip start. Meet at the Denver Audubon Nature Center parking lot. From C-470 drive south on Wadsworth 4.4 miles.
Turn left at Waterton Canyon Road and an almost immediate left into the Nature Center parking lot.

"Doug's 50th Anniversary at Waterton" Please join Doug in celebrating his 50th Anniversary of birding, TO THE DAY, by recreating his first birding trip as an eight year old kid. Doug, and his Mom Judy, tagged along on a DFO trip to Waterton led by Hugh Kingery on April 29th, 1973. This trip solidified his interest in birds and has led to a lifetime of avid birding - hopefully we can spark a similar effect during this trip. You can check out the results of Hugh's trip in the Lark Bunting archives (May 1973 issue).
This will be a day of hiking (~7 miles total) and seeking good migrants. We will first hike upstream then return to the Audubon Center (~2mi / 2-3hrs); several bathrooms along the way. The remainder of the day will be spent hiking down along the river to Kingfisher Bridge in Chatfield State Park then back to the Audubon Center (~5mi round trip); limited facilities in this stretch. There are no strenuous paths on this hike, but it will be a long day. Please pack a lunch and dress in layers as the morning will be cool, but we will likely heat up during the day.
