Directions
Sandstone Ranch is accessed from Hwy 105/Perry Park Rd, which begins just west of Sedalia. Drive 16 miles south on Hwy 105 to 8309 S Perry Park Rd., Larkspur, CO, (just south of the Perry Park Ranch and County Club entrance at Red Rock Drive). Proceed through a raised county gate and follow the gravel road south 1.3 miles into Sandstone Ranch. Continue past a set of ranch buildings to park on the grass near a guest house. Signage will indicate a Sandstone Event off Hwy. 105 and guide cars to the parking area. Google maps will only give you an accurate location with the Lat/Long (39.2241817, -104.9581687) or by typing in Sandstone Ranch. After meeting the leaders at the parking area expect to caravan further onto the ranch for a number of stops and then moderate walking.

This trip is limited to the first 18 registrations.

Sandstone Ranch is a new Douglas County Open Space of over 2000 acres that is not open to the public yet. Harriet Stratton (Co-Leader) and several other volunteers have been doing nature studies for the open space managers. Harriet has received permission to have a guided access field trip for DFO to this pristine new open space. This initial trip will be for DFO Field Trip Leaders and Harriet’s naturalists. Sandstone offers the visitor a beautiful vista: red rock formations, prairie, a variety of woodlands, and two riparian areas, Gove and West Plum Creek. Historic ranch buildings are of interest as well. Bring binoculars, walking sticks and a sack lunch. We will drive to and walk throughout at number of habitats for 1-3 miles of walking. Register online or contact the leader.
