Meet Chris Blakeslee

Chris Blakeslee

I am a retired Jeffco teacher with a background in Biology. I am interested in birds and how they interact with their natural and physical environments; the whole picture. I have been birding in Colorado and in North America since 1974 and I worked on the Second Colorado Breeding Bird Atlas. My favorite bird groups are owls, woodpeckers, and the Corvids.

My specialty is mountain birding in all months of the year with a focus on Front Range Woodpeckers (the nesting cycle of Lewis's Woodpeckers in the 2002 Hayman Burn area), the A.M. Bailey Bird Nesting Area in Summit County, and a special focus on the year-round populations and biology of our rare Barrow's Goldeneyes.
