Meet Karen Strong
I have been actively birding since 2018, although my love affair with birds is lifelong. Most of my birding has been along the Front Range, but I also love going a lot further afield...birding has introduced me to so many incredible places in Colorado. My favorite bird is the Turkey Vulture. I'm also very partial to nuthatches, chickadees, warblers... and many more!
While I am new to leading field trips, I have been a participant on many (there's no better way to become a better birder). I enjoy all styles of field trips, yet when birding on my own I usually hike. I find quality bird encounters more satisfying than maximizing the number of birds seen. What an incredible privilege to observe these beautiful and amazing creatures living their every day lives - foraging, preening, bathing, sleeping, raising young, etc. I'm so excited to deepen my passion and knowledge through leading field trips! When not birding, I enjoy running, doing crossword puzzles, reading, and texting with my two college kids.
