Download eBird Trip Data

Trip data is available to download for exploring any number of questions one might have. Clicking the download button will generate a csv file for manipulation in Excel or any spreadsheet progam. A few basic skills such as sorting and filtering in a spreadsheet will provide one with some interesting information.

Hints for Using the Data

  1. When possible, the duration of the trip has been calculated. Some earlier trips may show as 0 because of no times recorded.
  2. Because the data is collated by DFO trip definitions which frequently include multiple locations and hotspots, more discrete lists may require a bit of searching in eBird to match particular checklists with discrete locales. Go to http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S24107873 and replace the identifier (S number) with the checklist ID in your spreadsheet to see the actual eBird location.
