About the Trip
Now that winter has set in, we'll expect to see a variety of waterfowl (ducks, geese) depending on the extent of freezing on Ferril and Duck lakes. With luck, a Bald Eagle might be hanging out around Ferril as on occasion in past winters. Expect a variety of seasonal residents (Townsend's Solitaire, sparrows, Brown Creeper, etc.) and perhaps some surprises among the geese (Snow, Ross's, Greater White-Fronted and various hybrids are possible). We'll visit both lakes and a variety of possible hotspots at both ends of the park on a 3-mile stroll. Dress for the weather and bring water/snacks. Scopes may be helpful but not necessary at the lakes. Register online or contact leader.
