Silver City will be the central location for the majority of the trip. Meeting Place: Truth or Consequences, NM: Denny's / Comfort Inn. Directions: From I-25 S take exit 79 to Cemetery Rd. Turn east to N Date St and travel .4 miles. The meeting spot is on the left.

This trip is limited to the first 13 registrations.

Early Meeting Date/Time: 08/17 7:00 AM in Socorro, NM. Birding this day will either be in the Magdalena Mountain canyons or Bosque Del Apache. The night will either be spent up there with an early drive to T or C, or we will drive down in the afternoon and stay in T or C for Saturday night. Carpools can, and hopefully will, be arranged with participants ahead of time. Trip leader will try to help coordinate that. This will be an exploration of some southwestern species ranging in habitat from Chihuahuan and Sonoran desert to Gila Forest and Highland Oak-Juniper Canyons. The main base for the trip is Silver City, with trips to the Pinos Altos, Lake Roberts, Gila Cliff Dwellings, Virden Bridge, etc. Other stops on the way down or back north are Animas Creek Rd, Percha Dam, and possibly stops near Bosque Del Apache and the Magdalena Mountains. A full list of possible species is too long, but a handful that we will look for include Juniper and possibly Bridled Titmouse, Scaled and Gambel's Quail, Bewick's and Cactus Wrens, Verdin, Crissal Thrasher, Common Black and Zone-tailed Hawks, Black-throated and Cassin's Sparrows, Ladder-backed and Acorn Woodpeckers, Greater Pewee, Hutton's Vireo, and a few warblers. Register online or contact the leader.
