Meet Your Trip Leader
Mt. Falcon Park (Jefferson County)
5/18/2019      6:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Leader: John Breitsch   jbreitsch@hotmail.com or 303-588-0552
Trail Difficulty: Strenuous
Directions
Meet at upper parking lot of west side of Mount Falcon Park. From C-470 and U.S. 285 South, turn right at the Indian Hills exit to Parmalee Gulch Road. Follow Parmalee Gulch Road for approximately 2.5 miles to Picutis Road, turn right at Picutis, then follow the signs for Mt. Falcon to the upper parking area.

PARMALEE TRAIL: The usual Mt Falcon trips take a very standard route, this is the third of three trips that will explore slightly different sections of this park. This trip heads out the standard route along the Castle trail to the Tower Trail. From there we will head back via the long and winding Parmalee Trail. It is the most strenuous of the three trips in this series. The bird life is slightly different than the higher, less scrub brush sections of the park, so you may find one or two species you don't expect. It is still a tad early, but any day birding in May is a good day. Pack snacks and a lot of water. As always with my trips, there will be an early portion for anyone that cares to join me. I will leave the parking lot at 04:45 AM and do a quick loop up to the Tower Trail and back. This will give an extra chance to listen for owls and grouse. Come for one portion or both. Register online or contact leader.
