Trip Registration

As part of your registration, in order to participate in a Denver Field Ornithologists, Inc. (“DFO”) trip or other activities designated by the Board of Directors, each adult participant and the parent of a minor participant (those under 18 yrs. of age) are required to review and sign (either electronically or manually) a DFO Acknowledgment and Assumption of Risks & Release and Indemnity Agreement (sometimes “Agreement”) Completing this document involves your acceptance of binding contract terms. This online registration system allows you to review and electronically sign the Agreement if you do not have one on file. If you would prefer to manually sign a printable version of the Agreement, you may access it here, and present it to the leader before trip start. If you choose this option, please contact your leader to assure you are signed up for the trip.

Please note: Each person, including each family member choosing to sign the Agreement electronically must login and have a separate account so that the agreement is tied to the individual. If you are having difficulty with multiple logins, please contact us for assistance. *Minors: If participant is a minor, the minor’s parent or legal guardian must print out, review and sign a paper copy of the Agreement and present it to the leader before the trip start. Any minor attending must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.

Logged in users who have a signed Agreement on file will have the opportunity to print or save it at any time. Click on the link to the printable copy and use your browser functions to save or print.

Habitats to bird: Agricultural, Grassland, Riparian, Wetland
Sprague's Pipit is the target bird. A rare visitor to Colorado on it's fall migration on the eastern plains. We will go to Pipit Hill close to the tiny town of Hale, Colorado which is almost to the Kansas border. After Pipit Hill we will proceed eastward through the South Republican River State Wildlife Area (SWA) looking for eastern land birds that might have nested or expanded into the area, as well as possible late migrants. The trip is difficulty is identified as Strenuous given the long travel distance, length of the trip, and open field walking on somewhat unsteady terrain. We will meet at 6:00 am on Tuesday 10/10/2023 at the south end of the Kings Soopers parking lot in Bennet CO. The location directions should be provided above (if not, I will be emailing the group about a week ahead of the trip as a reminder and to arrange drivers for the car caravan). PLEASE bring WATER and SUNSCREEN and lunch/snacks as this is a full day of birding on the Eastern Plains. Because there will be a total of 12 of us signed up for this trip, we will need four vehicles - I will be driving - so we will need three additional vehicles (we would love to have one of those vehicles come up from Colorado Springs and meet us in Limon). If you can drive, please let me know. We will head east on Interstate 70 with a stop in Burlington for a restroom and coffee/snack break before heading north to our destination. There are a few working vault-type toilets in permanent buildings in a few places within the wildlife area. This trip requires the necessary permits to access a Colorado SWA. Register online or contact the leader.
