As part of your registration, in order to participate in a Denver Field Ornithologists, Inc. (“DFO”) trip or other activities designated by the Board of Directors, each adult participant and the parent of a minor participant (those under 18 yrs. of age) are required to review and sign (either electronically or manually) a DFO Acknowledgment and Assumption of Risks & Release and Indemnity Agreement (sometimes “Agreement”) Completing this document involves your acceptance of binding contract terms. This online registration system allows you to review and electronically sign the Agreement if you do not have one on file. If you would prefer to manually sign a printable version of the Agreement, you may access it here, and present it to the leader before trip start. If you choose this option, please contact your leader to assure you are signed up for the trip.
Please note: Each person, including each family member choosing to sign the Agreement electronically must login and have a separate account so that the agreement is tied to the individual. If you are having difficulty with multiple logins, please contact us for assistance. *Minors: If participant is a minor, the minor’s parent or legal guardian must print out, review and sign a paper copy of the Agreement and present it to the leader before the trip start. Any minor attending must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.
Logged in users who have a signed Agreement on file will have the opportunity to print or save it at any time. Click on the link to the printable copy and use your browser functions to save or print.

I love to share the wonder of thousands of Snow Geese at Jumbo Reservoir in Logan County. We will also be watching for fields of Snow Geese and flyovers. Snow Geese flyovers remind me of strands of pearls as they flyover. There should be plenty of other waterfowl, as well, which will give people unfamiliar with ducks some field experience. Additionally, we should encounter raptors along the way. We will be scoping the lake, no scope, no worries, we share! There can be other interesting stops along the way, depending upon conditions. Weather conditions on the prairie can vary in the winter, as of now, temps range from 30s to 40s while we are there. Being prepared makes your experience that much more pleasant with coats, gloves and head coverings. Please bring along whatever food you like, lunch and fluids. Additionally, binoculars make your experience even better! A few, as always, reminders if you are not feeling well, please drop off the trip in consideration of your fellow birders. If for some reason you need to drop from the trip, please do so on the DFO website so we are not waiting for you at the start time. This trip is marked strenuous due to the drive of approximately 300 miles. DFO policy for driver gas reimbursement is .50 divided by the number of riders in the car. Please be prepared to pay your driver. We will walk on uneven ground for up to 2 miles, maximum, divided at the various stops. Restroom availability will be at gas stations and park outhouses. Jumbo Reservoir is a Colorado State Wildlife Area which requires a Habitat or Fishing license. These can be obtained for a nominal fee online or at CPW offices at local parks. Register online or contact the leader.
