Meet Your Trip Leader
Brush Hollow, Aiken and Rock Creek Canyon
6:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Rebecca Laroche RebeccaLLaroche@gmail.com or 626-318-4435
Trail Difficulty: Moderate
Meet in the Lowe's parking lot off of Founder's Parkway in Castle Rock.
This trip is limited to the first 11 registrations.
Details: All our destinations will be off of Hwy 115, south of the city of Colorado Springs. As the leader lives in the area, she will meet those meeting at Lowe's at Cheyenne Mountain State Park (State Park Pass needed) at 7:30 and then we will together head to our 1st destination, which is Brush Hollow Reservoir. On our return, we will drive some side roads on the way to Aiken Preserve. Then we will hit Rock Creek Canyon as the 3rd stop, finally birding Cheyenne Mountain. Various thrashers, Juniper Titmouse, Scaled Quail, buntings, bluebirds, and tanagers and others are expected. Bring water, lunch, and snacks, as well as bins, sunscreen, and bug spray etc.. We will probably lunch briefly at Aiken and eat snacks on the trail or en route. Scopes probably not needed. Because of the duration, trip is listed as moderate; each trail itself is probably on the easy side. Given that the third week of October can bring all kinds of weather, this trip is, of course, contingent on the forecast. Register online or contact the leader.
