Founded in 1908 as company town for a DuPont dynamite factory (closed in 1980s), Louviers ("Loo-VEERS") is a leafy haven of quiet streets and numerous songbirds, woodpeckers, flycatchers, and other species. Birds visit feeders and yards and inhabit woods and meadows in DuPont Open Space along Plum Creek. Wood Ducks also breed in fenced-off but viewable pond refuge. Bring water, snacks and sun protection, and dress for the weather (including long pants for grassy open space woods). Register online or contact the leader.
