Trail Difficulty: Moderate
Meet at the south end of South Platte Park near C-470. From C-470 take the Platte Canyon Rd/South Platte Park exit. From Platte Canyon Rd at Depew Street turn southeast onto the entrance road for South Platte Park. Continue past a 90-degree left turn and the first parking lot, and meet in the second parking lot.
This late afternoon-to-sunset trip will focus on South Platte Park Reservoir and the nearby areas of South Platte Park. We should enjoy a nice variety of waterbirds, and hopefully an opportunity to study gulls at the reservoir when they gather at sundown (this will depend on ice being present). Interesting gulls, ducks, geese, swans, or loons may be around. We may walk about 2 miles, maybe on snowy paths. It will be cold up near the reservoir, even if a nice afternoon, so layers are recommended. Bring a spotting scope if you have one. Register online or contact the leader.
